About Us
Houston’s Center Stage Theater (HCST) was originally founded in 2002 with a vision to provide a safe, enriching and innovative environment for children and youth to learn, develop and showcase their talents in theater arts.
Our original founder wanted to put her years of personal experience as a dancer, performer and director in children’s theater to good use. Her dream was to reach a broad spectrum of Houston’s young people and families with a positive, value-centered place offering wholesome community and children’s theatre. Although eager to launch this early vision into reality, life inconveniently intervened when the founder was side-tracked by a move to the wilds of rural Maine! Our Texas launch was postponed by a mere seven years.
But a dream delayed is not necessarily a dream denied: for in 2008 our founder once again returned to her native Texas. She partnered with a wide spectrum of talented and enthusiastic theatre lovers, community groups, and others who shared her vision, re-igniting the HCST dream for 2009!

The HCST Executive & Ex Officio Board is made up of volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds: from folks who have spent hundreds of hours on the stage, to those who have spent hundreds sweeping it!
We bring skills in drama, vocal performance, music, dance, business, education, engineering, and law.
Three of our current Board members have successfully founded other theaters in the past.
Our Advisory Board includes persons with true artistic vision, oodles of collective theater knowledge, a wide spectrum of teaching experience, and most importantly to us, a true “Heart for the Arts” and for those people, young and old, who love theater.
Along with select partners in the Northwest area, we have joined together to plan an exciting first year.
Our Teen and Children’s programs will introduce a wide array of talented, experienced educators and theatre veterans to this area: people dedicated to the highest standard of excellence and of unquestionable personal integrity.
And, of course, the show must go on! |
