“ENCORE"
A Two Week
DRAMA Theater
Camp
June 7- June 18
This action packed camp is designed to bring out the actor in everyone!
The Encore Camp is designed to teach the basics in drama and acting and to develop the skills of those with some acting experience. Students will focus on scenes and monologues to develop a camp wide Showcase Presentation at the end of the camp.
This camp will allow each camper to engage in various acting exercises that will help them see the many sides of acting – from character development and scene studies, to blocking and movement. The curriculum will cover a wide range of styles and is a thorough examination of what every actor should know about the stage, on a basic and introductory level for beginners, as well as on more subtle levels for the intermediate to advanced student. Each student will take part in variety of acting games and warm ups daily, as well as proven exercises to improve diction, character development, physical movement, prop work, blocking and memorization.
For beginners, the curriculum covers everything from the anatomy of the stage to common theater vocabulary. More advanced students will be invited to explore their improvisational skills and will develop winning monologues and strategies which they can use in future auditions. All will be taught the tools needed for a successful cold reading, and each will learn what directors look for in a “moldable” actor.
Camp is taught in both small group and one-on-one format—allowing students to rotate from instructor to instructor – and may also be divided into “teams” for various activities. Individual students will be introduced to as many scenes combinations as they can handle at their skill level– with large castings, as well as small ensemble pieces and quartet, trio, duets and monologues. Scene work will cover the widest possible range of theater styles, from Shakespeare to Contemporary, and encompass everything from hilarious comedy bits to the fully poignant. Some scene work may also be drawn from popular movie and TV material, as well as original material written by the instructors, if they so choose. All material selected is appropriate for audiences of any age and can be enjoyed by the whole family in our camp-ending Showcase Performance.

Two Week
MUSICAL Theater Camp
June 21- July 2
Get up and out of your seat for a fast moving and fun-filled 10 days of singing, dancing and acting!
The Ovation Camp is designed to cover all the basics of musical theater’s “triple threat” – singing, dancing and acting. In this high energy camp, students will rotate between dance classes, vocal classes and acting classes to develop their skills in each area, all culminating in a rousing, crowd pleasing Showcase Performance at camp’s end.
Our curriculum covers the widest possible range of musical theater styles and is a thorough examination of what every would-be musical theater actor should know about this genre, on both a basic and introductory level for beginners and on a more advanced level for those who already have some experience in musical theater.
The curriculum covers everything from warm up exercises for both the voice and body, to many fine points of vocal projection, movement, acting, and the myriad tools and tricks used in this uniquely American art form. The students will learn a variety of numbers, covering a wide range of styles and eras of Musical Theater, with all songs and scene chosen by the instructors as appropriate to the skill level of the campers.
Our goal for the Ovation Camp experience is giving each student a useful and universal set of musical theater skills that will carry them forward. For example, in this camp each student will learn how to have a successful audition. Along with the tools they will need to “get a part”, however, this camp will give them a solid idea of the kind of work involved once you get the part!
Training will focus on: the basics of good singing and the special skills involved in the various singing styles that Broadway music demands; improving the basic dance skills and physical movement involved in musical theater; basic diction and stage movement; vocal warm-ups and physical warm-ups; techniques for memorization of spoken lines, as well as lyrics and movement; improvisational skills and character development; finding your strengths and weaknesses and learning how to use and minimize both on stage; building self confidence; tricks for getting over the “nerves” factor; an opportunity to perform for a real audience on a live stage; and providing each student (and parent!) with individualized with helpful feedback for further growth. For those students with a lot of experience, more difficulty is added and more emphasis is given to duet and solo work.

A NOTE TO PARENTS:
If your student has a strong desire to be involved in theater, has developed some skills but would like to hone them, or just wants to be motivated to be their very best, this Summer Camp is designed to help them get a "leg up" on those things. In addition to the 60 hours of camp instruction, students will be given fun, interesting, but challenging, “home work”. But, please also be aware that we provide an intensive, fast paced and high energy learning environment which we believe mimics the pace of “real world” theater.
